The
Baldwin School Service League has been in existence since
the school’s founding in 1888. In recent years, however,
a greater appreciation of the significance of service has
resulted in increased participation by students and the
school staff and in an expanded schedule of activities.
The Service League is led by an elected board, but school-wide
participation in Service League events is encouraged. The
Service League carries out many major projects, such as
helping at Melmark, sponsoring a Blood Donor Day, visiting
at Saunders House, participating in Follow the Carpenter,
working at the Philadelphia Food Bank, and organizing food
drives for the homeless. Students take the responsibility
for raising funds for these and other projects.
The school hopes that through Service League activities
students will gain an understanding of themselves and others
that will encourage them to make future commitments to
volunteer and service activity.
